Collection: Unga Guitars and Basses

Why Unga?

Ungas are all unique, one-off pieces of playable art. They look familiar in that they are reminiscent of legendary guitar and bass designs, but they have special design choices that make them truly stand-out. Any player will tell you once they got their Unga they can't put it down.

The "Unga treatment" creates a graceful look with more playability. On Unga instruments, the smooth neck-to-body transitions without heels are an amazing shift from some traditional designs and allow nearly effortless playing. Superior design methods create balanced guitars and basses which are surprisingly lightweight. Finishes are thin, which add finesse and put the player in more direct contact with the wood, improving the player-to-instrument relationship.

From start to finish, all the woodwork, finishes, and assembly are done in a shop with hand tools and power tools by founder of Unga Guitars and Master Luthier Perry Vasquez. With CNC routers becoming more affordable and available, Unga's unique approach in the industry of instrument making is unfortunately becoming less and less common. Unga believes in supporting other artists through collaboration. You'll often find custom pickups, knobs, and hardware made by boutique artisans or Perry Vasquez on Unga guitars and basses. By purchasing an Unga you are contributing to the idea of guitars as art.

"You don't need another guitar, you need an Unga!"
